About this place

In a town of few BBQ options, Quick's is a godsend. They'll barbeque anything -- beef, ham, turkey, ribs, chicken, sausage -- and serve it up with white bread, beans and a smile. Quick service, too.
Dine in, drive through, and catering available.

You overpay for what you get. Avoid the BBQ Chicken and Pulled Pork...it is basically drowning....there is more sauce than meat. The Chicken was loaded up with dark meat cuts...lots of gristle.
Maybe I got their on an off night...but when returned I had the same experience.
End result, there are better BBQ places in Lawrence...namely in your back yard and on your own grill.

Good food, "quick" service and a very attractive waitress on Fridays!

For me to give a BBQ place a 7 for food is high. Service and vibe is at best sub par but most good BBQ places rate this way. For Lawrence this is easily the best BBQ place to eat, been around since the 60's (not this place but its KC location). A place doesn't last that long if it doesnt make quality food. Overall in quality of BBQ I put it behind Bryants, Smokestack, Oklahoma Joe's, but ahead of the much heralded Gate's. Not top three quality, but definitely near the top of KC BBQ and therefore best of Lawrence BBQ.

I once tried Quicks and received the worst barbecue I have ever had.
In addition to the terrible taste and non existent flavor the meat was exceedingly dry almost as if the plate had been prepared in advance and set under a heat lamp for most of the day.
I saw the plate of a friend who did not take my advice and it was not a fluke, I tried again nor was the bad taste:I understand places my have a bad day.
I wish at the time I had a camera and taken photos of that plate.
Memo to those who go into the restaurant particularly the barbecue business do it right or just sell burgers.
Sorry to offend, and believe me I understand the budget thing, but if you think the food at this place is good, I feel kind of sorry for you.

I graduated last May, and one thing I REALLY miss about Lawrence is Quicks BBQ. The prices are custom made for broke college students and you get a ton of food for your money. Their sauces do tend to run on the hot side, so be prepared for that!
