About this place
This is the build-your-own theme park of Asian cooking - Jade lets you pick out your own fresh veggies, meats, seafood, and sauces, and then stir-fries it right before your very eyes.
Though it runs a few bucks more than your average Chinese joint, the food per dollar ratio is HEAVILY weighted in your favor. If you've got a more modest appetite, then you'll have plenty o' leftovers. And if nothing else, the novelty of the cooking spectacle is sure to impress.

Food's pretty good and the service is great! When you go, ask for Jamie. She's awesome! And she's really hot too!!!

I generally enjoy the food at this establishment. I still do. Unfortunately, due to the poor customer service I received on my last visit, I won't recommend this restaurant again. I had called to order delivery. After giving my credit card over the phone, the person on the other end repeated the number, expiration date, and security number back to me. For security reasons, I asked him to please not do that. However, he told me that if I didn't like it, then I shouldn't pay by credit card. So I have decided to take him at his word. Don't pay them. Do not frequent this business. It pains me to say this as I really enjoy their food, but I will not eat here again and encourage others to do the same.

Brilliant for the money. Not expensive either. Great staff, friendly and always helpful. And their sushi is good too!

It was TERRIBLE! The place was dirty and looked like no one cared for. There were kids "trying" food from the steam table and trash all over.

This is my family's favorite restaurant in town. My boys love the mongolion bbq aspect, but we also love the service. We know the wait staff and cooks by name and they remember our family and treat us exceptionally well. It is always a nice experience.

Not much selection for a buffet. I've had much better mongolian bbq elsewhere.

Alan is the single greatest server in the greater Lawrence area. That is fact.

It's definitely on the list of the top five things I miss since moving from the area...and not just because I always seemed to meet important people there.

This, India Palace, and Ruchi are probably Lawrence's best restaurants, and they all have great buffets. I have been to Jade many times and had only one experience when it wasn't excellent. The restaurant is well-managed, the wait staff is courteous and professional and hard-working, and the food is consistently hot (when it should be hot) and cold (when it should be cold). An outstanding variety of prepared foods, and the made-to-order options are wonderful.
I don't think it's a coincidence that these three fine establishments happen to have staffs that are, for the most part, made up of people who have immigrated to the U.S. Sometimes certain people just care more and work harder and that is especially refreshing to find in the restaurant business. One problem with Lawrence (not just Lawrence, of course) is that you have lots of people doing restaurant work just to pay the bills, with no concern for the special attitude one needs when working with food. Jade, Ruchi, and India Palace don't have that problem and some Euro-Americans could learn from their example.

After living in Lawrence for almost 2 years, Jade has been a staple for me when I am really hungry, don't feel like spending a lot and want some decent food. No, their buffet isn't perfect but you pay for what you get and it's good enough to go to on a regular basis. It's noisy and usually crowded so the don't expect the best experience and their servers are pretty good (for a buffet place). Maybe not the best place to go if you're just in Lawrence for a day or two but if you live here, it's a must try.

While the buffet items are what you would normally find at a "Chinese" buffet style restaurant, the Mongolian BBQ portion of this place is what makes all the difference. The service is also outstanding, and the atmosphere is great. Highly recommended.

I have been a regular at Jade since it opened, and I really love it. The service is great, the buffet items are the best in town, and while I miss the opportunity to season and sauce my mongolian barbecue items like I can in KC, I can usually create a pretty decent plate of food when I want something different. I love the sushi and crab legs on the weekend!
I think I eat there too much, though...several of the wait staff know me by name, and know what I like to drink.... :)

Has to be some of the best Asian food I have ever had. I also love how you can build your own and have it cooked in front of you.

This place dishes out the worst mongolian bbq I have ever had. I was expecting to be able to mix my own sauce, which is the norm at mongolian bbq restaurants, but was greeted with a system where you pick out a sauce card which the "chefs" make for you. The raw ingredients seemed to be up to par, but the few sauces that I tried were lacking in flavor and depth. For those not interested in creating a custom stirfry there is a small buffet, but the food seemed old and did not taste very good at all. There were enjoyable appetizers and soups but that is not enough to make me go back.

I have had the pleasure of dining here twice and plan to do so frequently in the future. If you haven't had a chance to check this place out, do so as soon as possible. The service is phenomenal as is the exceptional food. This restaurant definitely impressed my family who was in from out of town. It's really a gem of Asian cuisine for Lawrence. GO GO GO!!!
